heriff Perkins One Man Band sings, picks the guitar and kicks the drum in the unexplored territories of rockabilly-country-hardcore!!!
Sheriff Perkins started performing as a one man band in July of 2005. He sings, plays guitar and uses his feet to kick a snare drum as well as a bass drum, the latter equipped with a twin bass drum pedal, which he doesn't play a great deal, but looks good for showing off.

His music randomly blends vague rockabilly with lazy Country Music, folding the whole thing in an opportunist Garage Punk packaging able to puzzle the most indulgent of the critics.
So far he's released a LP and two 7 inches, the last one being a split record with Thee Mysterious Asthmatic Avenger, appeared in a few compilations and played over one hundred and fifty concerts in France and Europe, anywhere he could display his lousy technicity and his poor musical taste.
And like it's not enough, he's been singing and playing guitar in the garage punk band dubiously named Dead Kadhafis since fall of 2011 and is having bad designs about founding a grindcore one man band going by the no less improper name of Anal Vega.
It's needless to say, he's not even remotely a real sheriff.

Since Hasil Adkins, a great tradition of One-Man-Band has spread out, with notably Bloodshot Bill, Rev. Beatman and Petit Voodoo.
Sheriff Perkins makes no exception, yet he's more into Garage-Psycho. And that works perfectly, particularly on the terrific "Nookie" (to be discovered on the Sheriff's MySpace page).
Deep and cold vocals, a good binary rythm, an extremely fuzzy guitar and 4 hormons-and-sweat-saturated compositions. This EP bears no superfluity and no cheating : the naked truth, nothing but the truth, I swear to you. Sheriff Perkins brings us back at the very roots of a primitive, wild and chainsaw-chiselled rock'n'roll.

A 45 rpm bomb of overdriven speed by a savagely fucked-up parisian! The wild 50's & 60's is fully applicated to the vocals, the guitar and the drums, like Hazil Adkins and the Sonics were fighting each others with Carl Perkins and the Cramps as referees. What surprises most about that one-man-band is the fact that the melting-pot worrks at every level, the sound is perfect with controlled extremism (although, that kind of processing is never won yet !), the compositions sound like old-time standards and the Sheriff's haunted vocals will attract the Johnny Cash lovers as well as the Lux Interior fans.

Sheriff Perkins is a genuinely rock'n'roll one-man-band, a recently growing trend after years of more blues-oriented one-man-bands. Rock'n'roll is filthy, dirty and muddy here, like the man had to travel across a god-forgotten swamp before settling his stuff in studio. Overdrive, reverberation and saturation, forget lo-fi, we're talking no-fi here. Sounds like we're in a southern honky-tonk, where the local hot-shot tries to get himself listened to amidst the saturday night traditionnal general fist-fight. And the fucker get himself heard... before going kicking some ass too ?

What we first notice in Sheriff Perkins' Website, it's the homogeneity of the project. A one-man-band with effective graphics, a vintage inspiration and leanings towards auto derision and energy. The cover art of "The naked truth with no bra on", 4-track on vinyl, sets the tone. A pretty cowgirl with a generous breast welcomes the psychobilly fan with a broad grin. So that's what it's all about, a blend of garage music and rock from the '50s, perpetually in keeping with the style of the day and never going to die. Here is a passionate one-man-band, happy to propose what he calls an effective and extremely mobile setup; which may talk to you about Motörhead and Reverend Horton Heat but also certainly dirty stories from his lyrics. This law-enforcer is a wonderful discovery, let us give thanks to the Lords for having made Myspace and given Sheriff Perkins the right to be established among us.
